I like Twitter a lot. It’s fun, it’s casual, most of my friends are there, and I get lots of great ideas, tips, and laughs from my friends’ tweets.
Here’s some basic information that should give you a good sense of whether you want to follow me or not.
How often do I tweet?
I try to tweet 5 to 10 times per day. This varies, of course, depending on how many conversations I get involved in and how others respond.
I try to keep a good balance between tweeting my own thoughts, promoting my own stuff, joining conversations, and retweeting others’ tweets.
What kinds of tweets will you see from me?
I tweet about what I’m doing and reading online. I tweet when I post a new blog post, and yes, I do promote my own services (but as I mentioned, I try to balance these tweets with non-promotional ones). I also nearly always respond to @replies (I love to join conversations), and I also RT (retweet) things for three main reasons:
- Because I found a tweet insightful or thought-provoking (this might include quote-of-the-day type tweets)
- To point others to a link that I personally found useful (retweeting lets me give credit to the person who shared the link originally)
- To help my friends biggify their businesses (If you want me to tweet your stuff, you have to actually be someone I know and have a business that I believe is worth promoting — I don’t do it for just anyone).
Do I use affiliate links in my tweets? Will I promote your stuff?
Yes, I do use affiliate links when I’m promoting a friend’s business. I believe affiliate programs (when entered into with integrity) are a win-win. That said, you don’t need an affiliate program for me to tweet your stuff.
I don’t promote things just to get affiliate income. I only promote businesses and products that I have personally used, or that I know enough about that I can honestly recommend as valuable.
Will I follow you if you follow me?
Genesis should be making royalties everytime someone says this.
I don’t auto-follow people who follow me. The best way to get me to follow you is to @ reply me. Introduce yourself, or reply to one of my tweets, or tell me something interesting. Unless you’re a spammer or a robot, I’ll probably follow you if you take the time to interact with me.
