The Small-Business Tree

Have you ever considered that your business is alive, organic, and growing, just like a tree?

Like most people, you probably think of business as being something serious, something important, something you work hard on. Maybe even something separate from your “real life.” Why else would there be an entire genre of books and websites devoted to so-called “work-life balance?” Balancing work and life implies that they are two different and separate things.

What if they are, in fact, the same thing? What if your business is inseparable from your “real life?” What if you could learn how to see them as part of one organic whole? What if you had access to simple techniques to help you make better business decisions, decisions that supported this integrated view of business as part of your life?

I share these beliefs. My whole business is built around joyfully sharing what I love, and celebrating the fact that my business path is part of my life path. I am both a mother and a small business owner, and I believe that supporting my family does not have to mean neglecting my family. My business nourishes my family, and my family nourishes my business.

If this idea appeals to you, you can read a little more about the Small-Business Tree in this post.

This week’s heart of the matter:
Imagine that your business is a tree. What is the one thing you can do right now to nourish it?
