Flow Notes!

Expert, real-time notes for your teleclass

It’s fairly easy to record a teleclass and offer the audio recording as a free download or a paid product.

But did you know that only about 30% of your buyers will be able to learn well by just listening?

Educators have found that about 65% of the population needs to see what they are learning.* For these visual learners, an audio recording alone is not enough. They’re the ones who ask you for a transcript or a written summary.

Transcripts are a good solution — if you have the time to wait while your class is being transcribed, and the patience to edit the transcript into something readable.

Three reasons Flow Notes are better than a transcript:

  1. Instant: Because I take my notes in real-time during your live class, they are complete as soon as the class is complete. No waiting, no cleaning up spoken sentence fragments. You can send out your audio recording and Flow Notes as a complete package within minutes of concluding your class.
  2. Readable: Yes, I type with demon speed (though last time I checked, my soul still belonged to me), but I also synthesize the speaker’s meaning as I’m typing. I don’t transcribe; I translate. Flow Notes are written in complete sentences that retain the speaker’s unique tone and cadence.
  3. Ready for prime time: You are free to edit your Flow Notes as you wish (they’re your words, after all!), but you can be confident that they offer a comprehensive written version of your class. Whether you choose to package the text with your audio, use them as the basis for an ebook, or break them down into worksheets and checklists, Flow Notes make creating a quality product incredibly easy.

Here’s what teleclass participants say about the experience of reading flow notes:

“I get really restless listening to audios, so I ADORE having a written record of a call, and your notes are always far better than the transcript. Because they’re interpreted, not just transcribed, there’s a fluidity and power to them that more accurately conveys what happened on the call.

With your notes, I can read and reread much faster than I can listen, and I can scribble my own thoughts all over the page — making it more interactive for those of us who need to engage with something to learn it.”

-Julie Clarenbach, Escape the Ivory Tower

“Taking high quality notes is tremendously valuable. Calling it “notetaking” doesn’t quite capture the whole enchilada. Because these aren’t just notes, they are better than notes. It’s like you’re capturing the energy and essence of the conversation so that people who weren’t there can tap into that feeling. And people who were there might get a piece or a sensation that they missed.”

-Julie Stuart, Making Ideas Visible

If you carefully script your teleclasses and already have lots of high quality written material for your participants, then you don’t need Flow Notes. Seriously, you can stop reading now.

But if your classes use any of the following techniques, Flow Notes may be a great help to you as a class leader as as well as to your participants:

  • You don’t script your calls and like to speak from a few scribbled notes or talking points (or no notes at all)
  • Your calls feature created-in-the-moment content like guided meditations, channeling, or energy work
  • You plan to devote call time to answering live questions from your participants

Here’s what teleclass leaders have to say about Flow Notes:

“Dude, these are AWESOME notes! Better than the ones I made before the class!”

-Tara Swiger, Blonde Chicken Boutique

“Wendy, I’m in awe of your note-taking abilities. You’re a woman of many talents. Thanks so much for sharing these wonderful notes. It’s good to read what I said on the call, since it all disappeared as soon I’d said it! :-)

-Hiro Boga, HiroBoga.com

There’s no faster way to create a product out of a teleclass!

More comments from teleclass participants:

“Your notes are superb. Actually they are brilliant. Wendy, I am totally blown away by your notetaking.

And to think that I consider myself a great note taker….but you beat me by miles…and I don’t have to take my handwritten notes, type them up, and then have to re-listen to the parts that I’ve missed, adding hours on to the task.

Thank you so much! And how do you capture the subtle essence and tone of the presenter? I could actually taste Hiro’s words from your notes. You did a fantastic job.”

-Amba Greene

“I’m wowed by the comprehensiveness of your notes. They really do capture the calls. I was on this call live, and these notes are amazingly true to what I experienced. You do a superb job with these, Wendy!”

-Lisa Firke, Hit Those Keys

“You are the most awesome notetaker ever! I missed this call and thanks to you, I feel like I was there. These are incredible notes and I really appreciated being able to read them. I feel so much better after reading these notes. You did an amazing job on them.”

-Char Brooks, The First Step

What do you actually get?

Here’s how the Flow Note process works:

  1. You submit a Flow Notes Application (at the bottom of this page).
  2. If I accept your application, I’ll invoice you via email. I currently charge $250 per teleclass of up to 75 minutes.
  3. As soon as your invoice is paid, I lock you into my calendar.
  4. You give me the dial-in information for your teleclass, so I can join just like a regular participant.
  5. I spend the class time in a state of flow, typing up your notes in a raw text document.
  6. Immediately following the conclusion of the call, I read through the Flow Notes for clarity and tone. I’ll also add some very basic formatting where appropriate to the content: Bulleted or numbered lists, hyperlinks, key words and speaker names in bold type, and section headings.
  7. I email you two documents: The raw text version and the nicely-formatted Word doc version.
  8. You’re ready for the world!

Are you ready to get in the flow?

Make sure you’re OK with these caveats first.

  • I am very selective about where I choose to devote the time and energy for Flow Notes. That’s why I require an application.
  • Please apply at least one week before your live class is to take place; last-minute applications have a very slim chance of being accepted.
  • I currently charge $250 per teleclass of up to 75 minutes. Please be ready to pay your PayPal invoice within 72 hours after I accept your application, to lock in your slot on my calendar.
