Save the date: Website Wish Kit class on January 19

I’m still working on all the details, but I’ve picked a date for my next teleclass, Your Website Wish Kit: Wednesday, January 19, at 10am Pacific (1pm Eastern).

You might want to hold that spot open if you’re interested in improving your website (and that includes going from “What website?” to actually having one that works).

See, I’m developing a class that is based on Jen Hofmann’s Wish Kit. That’s an affiliate link, because I own and highly recommend the Wish Kit, which has been a tremendous help to me over the past couple of years. Jen helps people come into harmony with their workspaces, but she does so much more than give organizing advice — it’s hard to sum up. If you don’t know Jen, go visit her site and introduce yourself. She’s good people.

Anyway, I’ve been using Jen’s fabulous Wish Kit technique to create my ideal office space, and I recently realized that the exact same methodology could be used on virtual office space — on websites.

Jen has given me her blessing to use her methodology and even the name Wish Kit, which is incredibly generous of her. I’m buzzing with excitement about leading a class that will help you, in Jen’s words, “move from overwhelm and frustration to clarity and hope.”

So, whether you don’t yet have a website and don’t even know the first step to getting one, or you have a website that irks you because you want to tweak it but don’t know how, or even if you have a website that you’re fairly happy with but want to know how it could be improved…the Website Wish Kit class can help.

Stay tuned to this blog for the official announcement — subscribers will be the first to know that the class is open for sign-ups. Subscribers also get my 28-page WordPress Essentials Toolkit as my thank-you for letting me into your inbox each week.

Two more days to get 3 months of WordPress backups and upgrades

WordPress 3.1 is due to be released in the next month or so — are you ready to upgrade?

(Hint: Being ready to upgrade means making sure your site is fully backed up.)

On December 31, I’m closing enrollment in my WordPress Peace of Mind Program, and I wanted to make sure you got one more reminder in case you were putting off signing up.

The Peace of Mind Program is a service I created to take the burden of backups and upgrades off your shoulders for the next three months. I’ll make sure your WordPress site is fully upgraded (not just WordPress itself, but all your plugins and your theme too) and backed up (including your files and your database) until the end of March 2011, all for a single payment of $89.

Plus it makes me laugh that the initials spell POMP.

This program is a three-month experiment for me, and a three-month supply of safety and security for you. We both win!

Ready to get POMPous with me? Learn more and sign up on the Peace of Mind Program page.

Update: Minutes after I published this post, WordPress announced a critical security update (version 3.0.4). Please, even if you don’t join my Peace of Mind Program, do take a moment to update your site right now. And if you’d like me to handle it for you, there are still slots open.

Last day to buy Personal Office Hours

Personalized tech help for the New Year

Today is the last day to buy Personal Office Hours from me, although you can use your hours anytime before the end of February, 2011.

I know that this is a very busy time of year for many of us, and I wanted to give you one last heads-up about this before the deadline slips quietly away.

So if you want to reserve some quality time for you and your website (or shopping cart, or email list) for after the holiday craziness calms down, head on over to the Personal Tech Help page to buy your Personal Office Hours, and we’ll schedule some time together in the New Year.

Some quick reminders:

  • You can give Personal Office Hours (or, really, any of my services or products) as gifts. Just email me after your purchase (you can just reply to the thank-you email) and let me know who’s going to benefit from your generosity, and I’ll send a personalized gift email to that lucky person!
  • Every Personal Office Hour gets you an audio recording of our time together and a followup email from me summarizing what we discussed, so you can refer to it later.
  • We’ll use our hour in the way that best helps you. I can share my computer screen with you to demonstrate how to do things, answer your questions, or even login to your site to fix and configure things.
  • You can get a Personal Office Hour for $99 (instead of the normal price of $159) when you combine it with one of the four services/products listed below.

Office Hour combo packs

I’m offering a discounted rate of $99 for one Personal Office Hour (a $60 savings), when you buy in combination with any of these four services:

  1. WordPress Swimming Lessons + 1 Personal Office Hour: $198 (normally $258). Sign up here.
  2. WordPress Installation + 1 Personal Office Hour: $198 – $998 (depending on whether you choose the Basic, Bonus, or Bonanza package — normally $99-$899). Choose your package here.
  3. Love Your List + 1 Personal Office Hour: $216 or $246 (depending on whether you buy the Core or Premium version of this home-study workshop — normally $117 or $147). Buy your combo here.
  4. Peace of Mind Program for WordPress backups/upgrades + 1 Personal Office Hour: $188 (normally $248). Snag one of the remaining slots here. This program is only open until December 31 (or until all 10 slots are filled, whichever comes first).

Remember, Personal Office Hours will only be available for sale until December 24. However, you can use them anytime in the next 60 days.

My next WordPress Swimming Lessons class starts on January 24, so it falls neatly within this period. You could use your hour after the class is over, to ask questions or have me set up specific WordPress plugins for you.

And if you choose the Peace of Mind Program (there are still slots available, but the program will close in one week, on December 31), your WordPress site will be backed up and upgraded through March 2011, and you can use your hour for anything you like before the end of February.

You can buy Personal Office Hours here.

Here’s to technological ease and simplicity in the new year!

Personal Office Hour: Tech help customized for you! (One week only)

Every Thursday, I do this thing called Open Office Hour (which I’ve taken to calling Office Happy Hour, because really, everything goes better when you’ve got a half-price drink in your hand — especially knotty tech problems).

People call me and I answer their tech questions, give them advice on online business, and chat about how things are going for them (and for me). I love it. I adore all the fabulous people who call me. Office Happy Hour started as an experiment, and I’ve been doing it for more than a year now. The experiment was a roaring success, right from the beginning.

So I’m going to keep doing Office Happy Hour. And I’m going to try a new experiment: Personal Office Hours. If you want a full hour of my focused attention, you can now make an appointment for your own personal office hour!

This is an experiment, so I’m trying it for a limited time. You can buy a Personal Office Hour until December 24. That doesn’t mean you have to make time for your hour this week — we can schedule our appointment for anytime in the next 60 days (I’ll round up and just say “until the end of February 2011″).

This is a great way to kick off your New Year with some friendly tech help!

Your own personal office hour

Here’s how it works:

  1. You purchase a unit of Basic Tech Help for $159 before December 24. (keep reading to find out how you can save $60 and get your office hour for only $99!)
  2. I’ll email you to set up a time during the next 60 days that’s convenient for both of us to talk by phone or Skype.
  3. You can use your hour however you like!
  4. You get an audio recording of our call and a followup email from me summarizing what we talked about.

How could you use your own office hour? Lots of ways. You can even give them as a gift!

For example, I can answer your questions, make recommendations for your online business, set up and configure website stuff for you, show you how to do something (like set up a product in E-Junkie, send a blog broadcast email in AWeber, or change your WordPress theme, just to name a few examples…I’m sure you can come up with your own tech questions that have been bugging you for-freaking-ever!).

I can even share my computer screen with you so I can walk you through steps visually.

Office Hour combo packs: Save big!

As part of the experiment, I’m offering a discounted rate of $99 for one Personal Office Hour (a $60 savings), when you buy in combination with any of these four services:

  4. Peace of Mind Program for WordPress backups/upgrades + 1 Personal Office Hour: $188 (normally $248). Snag one of the remaining slots here.

Remember, this is an experiment, so Personal Office Hours will only be available for sale until December 24. However, you can use them anytime in the next 60 days.

My next WordPress Swimming Lessons class starts on January 24, so it falls neatly within this period. You could use your hour after the class is over, to ask questions or have me set up specific WordPress plugins for you.

And if you choose the Peace of Mind Program, your WordPress site will be backed up and upgraded through March 2011, and you can use your hour for anything you like before the end of February.

Also, any of my services can be bought as gifts, including these combo packs. Just let me know after you buy (you can reply to the thank-you email) and I’ll set up your gift recipient with some friendly tech help!
